Private ADHD Assessment for Adults and Young People

Robust, psychologist-led ADHD assessments for adults in Leeds and online across the UK. Short waiting times, comprehensive reports and ongoing support.

A Robust Assessment, Not a Tick-Box Exercise

Our ADHD assessments are designed to give you genuine clarity. Led by experienced psychologists, we go far beyond a simple questionnaire. We take the time to understand your life history, your experiences and how your brain works in context.

Our service is led by a psychologist who has ADHD herself, so we understand the lived experience as well as the clinical picture. This shapes everything we do, from the way we communicate to the way we design our assessments.

Every assessment follows NICE guidelines and includes a comprehensive exploration of your developmental history, current difficulties and how ADHD may be showing up across different areas of your life. We also consider whether other conditions could better explain your experiences, because getting the right answer matters more than getting a quick one.

With significantly shorter waiting times than the NHS, we can see you quickly and produce your report efficiently, so you’re not left waiting months for answers.

Whether you’re someone who has suspected ADHD for years, or you’ve only recently started connecting the dots, we’re here to help you make sense of it all with warmth, rigour and no judgement.

In-person or online: Assessments are available face-to-face in Leeds and the surrounding area, or remotely via video call for clients anywhere in the UK.

What to Expect

We’ve designed our assessment process to be robust and supportive at every stage. Here’s how it works:

1

Initial Enquiry

Get in touch for a free, no-obligation chat. We'll answer your questions, explain the process and help you decide whether an assessment feels right for you.

2

Pre-Assessment Questionnaires

Before your appointment, we'll send you a set of questionnaires to complete. These help us build a detailed picture ahead of your assessment session, so we can make the most of our time together.

3

In-Depth Clinical Interview

This is the heart of the assessment: a comprehensive interview exploring your history, development, education, relationships, work and day-to-day experiences. We take time to understand you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.

4

Observer Information

Where possible, we'll gather information from someone who knows you well, such as a partner, parent, or close friend. This helps us understand how ADHD traits may have presented across your life, including in childhood. This step is helpful but not essential if an observer isn't available.

5

Your Report

You'll receive a comprehensive written report produced efficiently and without unnecessary delays. This includes your diagnosis (or explanation if ADHD is not identified), a detailed formulation of your difficulties and clear, personalised recommendations for next steps.

6

Feedback Session

Once your report is ready, we'll arrange a dedicated session to talk you through the findings, explain what they mean in the context of your life and answer any questions you may have. This is your opportunity to make sense of everything at your own pace, with professional guidance.

What Makes Our ADHD Assessments Different

Not all ADHD assessments are the same. Here’s why clients choose West Psychological Services.

🔍

We Consider Differential Diagnosis

ADHD symptoms can overlap with anxiety, depression, trauma, autism and other conditions. We don't just look for ADHD. We carefully consider what else might explain your experiences, so you get the right diagnosis, not just a diagnosis.

🧠

Psychologist-Led

Our assessments are carried out by experienced psychologists with specialist training, and our service is led by a psychologist who has ADHD herself. This means a deeper, more formulation-driven approach that looks at the whole person: your history, your strengths, and your context.

📋

NICE Guideline Compliant

Every assessment meets the standards set out in NICE clinical guidelines, giving you confidence that your diagnosis is robust, credible and recognised by GPs and other professionals.

🤝

Support Beyond Diagnosis

Unlike many providers, we don't stop at the report. We offer post-diagnostic therapy and coaching as a separate service to help you understand your ADHD and develop practical strategies, so your diagnosis becomes a starting point, not an endpoint. Pricing for post-diagnostic support is available on request.

💬

Neuro-Affirmative Approach

We celebrate neurodivergence. Our approach recognises the unique strengths that come with ADHD, not just the challenges. You'll be met with understanding, not judgement.

⏱️

Short Waiting Times

NHS waiting lists for ADHD assessment can stretch to years. We see clients quickly and produce reports efficiently, so you get the answers you need without the long wait.

📍

Flexible Access

Choose from in-person assessments in Leeds and the surrounding area, or remote appointments via secure video call from anywhere in the UK. We work around you.

Diagnosed With ADHD – What Happens Next?

A diagnosis is just the beginning. Many people feel a mix of relief, validation and uncertainty about what comes next. That’s completely normal, and it’s exactly where we can help.

As a separate service, our team of experienced therapists offers post-diagnostic support to help you make sense of your diagnosis, develop strategies that work for your life and address any emotional impact. Whether you want structured ADHD coaching, therapeutic support, or simply a space to process what your diagnosis means for you, we’re here. Pricing for post-diagnostic sessions is available on request.

This is what sets us apart from assessment-only providers: we can walk the whole journey with you, from your first enquiry through to the support that makes a real difference in your day-to-day life. Contact us today, we’re here to support you on your journey.
